He's off to Africa!

B is now off to Africa! He landed safely in Paris and is on the way to Nairobi to do a rotation with a hospital for the next four weeks.  He is with several other of his colleagues so I can rest a little easier that he is safe.  I am so happy that he has this experience to understand more of what international medical ministry can look like.  He did a rotation in Bolivia several years ago which was a fantastic experience and now he gets to see a little of Africa!

On his agenda is a couple Safari trips, climbing Mt. Kenya then heading over to join some buddies in Europe for an additional three weeks for his own fun and adventures.

In the meantime, I ran over to Baton Rouge for my first house hunting experience! I was matched with a really fantastic realtor - she has a very similar personality to mine and has given great insight and advice and I feel like I can really trust her.  We toured about 15 houses today and thankfully found three that are great possibilities. Now to make some big decisions with a hubby overseas, shall be interesting.

Have a great weekend!

A boys trip

It's funny how so many of our friends are having big changes in their lives and parting ways just about the same time that we are as well.  Some of our best friends are moving to HAWAII in a few weeks and we couldn't be more sad to see them go but excited for their adventure ahead!

B joined his two best friends to drive up to Cali to ship their car and is enjoying a guys trip in San Diego.  These three musketeers know each other so well and are awesome accountability partners, friends and pretty much brothers.

Sometimes he just need to hang with the guys.

Four years later

Four years ago, the first year med students began raising money for their match week. And finally it has all paid off with a whole week of activities to celebrate with friends.

Brunch to celebrate

A little brunch for a very special hubby and a few friends. Congrats B!

We Matched!

We matched! My amazing hubby will be a head and neck surgeon!

He has worked so hard for these past four years of medical school and I am so proud of him! I know he will do great during the next five of residency.

Baton Rouge, I have never visited you before but I hope that you will be a great home for the next five years.

Louisiana...here we come.

BBQ time

Rodeo season is here and that means we kicked it off in style with the best BBQ in the country! I do love Texas BBQ and there is no better place to find the best than at the Rodeo Cook-Off.

Bentley lately: the busy puppy

Here is what our little pumpkin has been up to lately.

He loves to help clean

and work on the iPad.

Read the Bible with us.

Even go to work with mommy.

Play with his best friend Paisley

and his other best friend Birdie.

He catches everyone's attention when we drive by.

He spends lots of time at the park

and sometimes even gets on the slide.

But don't worry he plays lots at home too.

He always gives lots of kisses.

Oh and did I mention he is a model on the side?

Whew, being a puppy is exhausting!

Night shifts

B is finally back home for a little while after being away on the interview trail and out of town rotations. But we still can't spend any time together and enjoy being in the same city since he is doing his Emergency rotation and has night shifts.  We are trying our best to coordinate our schedules to see each other but it just will not work out. Oh well, I guess we are used to this. The life of living with a med student with a crazy schedule.

On the bright side, next week is the BIG DAY where we find out where (and if) he matches!!
